A roadside structure in the ochre haze — power lines crossing without purpose, palms barely holding their form, a solitary figure in the distance who may already be leaving. The paint drips down like rain that came too late.

Malibu Relais is the earliest work in the Malibu Series, painted in 2006. It remains in the artist's permanent collection.
